Baby Geiger Cupcake Revelation Party!

Picture
I brought in cupcakes iced in pink and blue icing with a big question mark on the top. The kids wore pink and blue to school depending on what they thought my baby was going to be. I had all the kids bite into the cupcakes at the same time to find blue icing on the inside. It was very fun for me to see all the excited faces to find out I am going to have a baby boy!!

Science Lab- Taste Testing

Picture
In class we tried a tasting lab to see how the different parts of our tongue can taste certain things more than others (bitter, salty, sour, and sweet). The kids tasted dill pickles, orange peels, potato chips, and a sugar cube. It was fun, and some things even tasted good!

Principal's List and Honor Roll Awards!!

1st Quarter Awards Ceremony- Wednesday, October 26th after Chapel

Picture
After chapel, each teacher in grades 3-7 awarded the students that made the Principal's List (Straight A's) and those that made the Honor Roll (A's and B's), as well as those students who had Perfect Attendance. The students were called up by name, received a certificate, and coupons to McDonald's and Chick-Fil-A. Third grade had a total of 10 students out of 15 make either Honor Roll or Principal's List. I am so proud of these students and hope the awards ceremony serves as a motivator to all students to strive for academic excellence! We will do an awards ceremony after the 2nd quarter to reward students for grades for the 2nd quarter. Please continue to encourage good grades and attendance! Thank you to those parents who were able to attend to cheer on your child!

Honoring Our Veterans for Veteran's Day!

Chapel for Veteran's Day

Picture
My good friend, Jacob, came into school on Wednesday to do a Chapel on being a Veteran. He spoke to the children about having pride in your country and most importantly having pride in Jesus Christ. He told his story to the kids and offered a question and answer time at the end.

On Thursday, Jacob came into our classroom to do a more personal presentation for the children. The 2nd graders joined us in this occasion. It was very informative and the students really enjoyed learning what it is like to serve our country through the armed services.

Our Field Trip to see "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" Play

December 6, 2011

Today, our class traveled to Mesa Arts Center to see the play "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." We had wonderful parent drivers and chaperones support us on the field trip. When we arrived at the Mesa Arts Center, we were escorted to AMAZING seats! Our class was able to sit in the 2nd row from the stage and in the center! We really enjoyed reading the book before seeing the play, and loved understanding the true meaning of Christmas is what Jesus did for us by coming to earth as a baby to save us from our sins.

"Christmas in the Country"-
Music Christmas Concert (Dec. 13, 2011)

Mrs. Rocca, our music teacher, put on an amazing Christmas Program for our school on December 13th. The theme this year was "Christmas in the Country" and portrayed the birth of Jesus Christ as the real reason to celebrate Christmas. The 3rd graders dressed in country attire and sang beautifully! After the Christmas program, the School Board gave GREAT news about our school! We do not have any debt and we are excited to continue to expand! After the quick meeting, the gym was open for the Scholastic Family Night Book Fair, as well as refreshments and other fun vendors. It was a great night and everyone in our class participated!! (Thank you Virgie for sending me these photos! If you have any of your kids that you would like to send me to add to this website, please feel free!)
