About the Teacher:
I grew up in Nashville, TN during my early schooling years. I then moved to California to attend Pepperdine University for college. I met my husband Chris at Pepperdine and continued to live in California after graduating to teach 5th grade at a private Christian school. I taught for a year and a half in the 5th grade class. Chris proposed, and we got married the summer of 2008. During our engagement, Chris decided to work towards a medical degree and applied to medical school. Chris chose to go to A.T. Still University in Kirksville, Missouri for medical school. This meant I had to leave my beloved job in California to make the trip to a new life. I was blessed enough to get a teaching job in a 4th grade classroom at the local public school. I taught for 2 years at this school, and then we found out that Chris's medical school career was now taking us to Phoenix, Arizona for him to complete his 3rd and 4th year rotations. Again, I was blessed to have found a job so quickly at Phoenix Christian teaching 3rd grade. This is my second year teaching 3rd grade here at PCWV and I absolutely love it! In addition to having my Bachelor's degree from Pepperdine, I just completed my Master's in Teaching degree from National University. I am so thrilled to have finished this goal of mine, and hopefully I am able to take things I learned during that time to improve our classroom.
As far as family goes, my husband and I have been married for a little over 3 years. We have two furry children, Joey- a 3 year old mutt of some kind and Bella- a 6 month old Great Dane puppy. Chris will be graduating from Medical School this coming May! We currently live in downtown Phoenix where we are renting a home. We have really enjoyed exploring Arizona and love all the outdoor things this state has to offer! I love to be active and enjoy working out, dancing, and playing soccer. Pretty much if it gets me up and active, I enjoy doing it!
I am so excited to start this new year and just know that God has so much in store for us this year! Are you ready to buckle up for the ride? It's going to be good!
Goals for this year: My main goal for this year is to share Christ with each and every child in this class. Our classroom will be centered around the teachings of Jesus and strive to keep the focus on the heavenly things. Another goal is to keep an open line of communication between school and home. This goal will only be mastered by working together. I hope to provide a classroom environment that promotes academic learning and exploring, as well as help foster and grow the spiritual lives of all the children.
